Painting from Life Workshop

OVERVIEW

​

This 4 Day workshop offers an opportunity for all levels and ages (16+) of artists to hone their artistic skills by practicing from direct observation, which includes floral arrangements, still lifes, and the figure. A final session in open studio will bring it all together and will include assistance, support and suggestions for creating vibrant and masterful alla prima studies that can then be composed into unique and original artwork. Join us for one or for all!

 

Tuesday - Floral Arrangements

Table with several fresh flower arrangements with drapery. Begin with drawing and/or painting one or all of the set-ups in your choice of mediums.

 

Wednesday - Still Life set-ups

Table with fruit, glassware and various containers and objects. Observe and record the light effects on shapes and form with your choice of mediums.

 

Thursday - Figurative Study

Model poses in several short poses, then one longer pose so that all artists can have multiple attempts at capturing the form from a variety of angles.

 

Friday - Open Studio

Artists bring their work and materials to continue artwork development in the studio setting with critique and suggestions.

 

Cost:

All dates are open for drop ins so there will be a price per day, and a price which includes a discount if artists wish to participate all 4 days.

Materials Lists

We will provide a list of the recommended materials for artists to bring with them to each session upon registration. We will provide easels, table, and chairs. 

All mediums are welcomed, and we will provide something if forgotten from our reserves. If painting in oils, please bring drop cloth. 

If artist does not have their own materials for session, there will be an extra charge of $10 for drawing supplies and $15 for painting materials.
